Construction - Day Ten

Today, me and my group worked on producing our digipak, for our ancillary task. We focused more on our CD cover, because Libby already has a variety of images that our group could use for the CD cover. 

We decided to look back at the post for our CD Cover Ideas for our group to consider when deciding on an image (as our group had numerous ideas on what to include for our CD cover). One of the images of Amie's CD Cover idea features the three girls laying on grass, smiling at the camera. We decided to use this image as it looks like a conventional image for a CD cover, and the girls make direct eye-contact with the camera, making the viewer feel more involved with the group. For the font, we decided to use 'Fiolex Girls' from Dafont, as it is very girly and fitting for our group's fictional pop band. We decided to use white font as white suggests purity and innocence (which is what we expect of the group's target audience of tween girls), and the colour of the font would also be very clear for viewers to read.

The other image so far in our ancillary task is an image of clouds. We got this image from Libby, who took this image on a plane. It also looks as if the girls in the CD Cover are looking up at the sky, showing the viewers what the girls are looking at.

Construction - Day Nine

Our group decided to re-shoot footage for the close-ups in our green-screens again, because the close-ups were too blurry to incorporate into our music video, and also as we had received feedback from other peers stating that our group didn't use enough close-ups in our music video. Because it had been a while since our group had independently set-up the green-screen, we did briefly forget how to set it up, but we eventually managed to set it-up properly, as seen in the screenshot above of Amie lip-syncing. Speaking of lip-syncing, we had to make the timing of the performers' lip-syncing an absolute priority, because of how much focus their singing would receive in the close-up. Thankfully, we did manage to sync it up perfectly, after moving the footage around in Adobe Premiere Pro. Adobe Premiere Pro also managed to get rid of the shadows and creases seen in the image of Amie lip-syncing to 'Feels So Good', as we used the Ultra Key feature to turn the green background to an orange background, as well as the ProcAmp feature to completely remove the shadows and creases in the green-screen.

Construction - Day Eight

 

Our group tried using the Sixteen Point Garbage Matte, but it didn't work out well for our background, so we decided to remove the effect and go ahead with re-shooting our green-screen shots, to get rid of creases in the background.

However, our group did use ProcAmp to modify the colour of the background for all of the clips. In Libby's green-screen, the creases in the background have gone, thanks to playing with the brightness, contrast and saturation of the ProcAmp effect.

These other clips look a lot more vibrant now than before, thanks to the ProcAmp effect, by playing around with the brightness, contrast and saturation.

Construction - Day Seven

Continuing to edit our music video with Adobe Premiere Pro, our group decided to cut more often, to achieve a quicker pace of editing, inspired by Little Mix's 'Move' (the TubeChop video below). We did continue to encounter some minor difficulties, such as matching the lip-syncing with some the clips, but we managed to overcome this by using other clips to replace the clips that our group is having difficulty with.

Construction - Day Six

During the course of the week, my group and I have been continuing to edit our music video using Adobe Premiere Pro. Using this software has taught me and my group valuable skills that we can continue to apply in our music video, such as how to sync up the soundtrack to the actions on screen, how to cut the duration of clips so the clips don't go on for too long and how to add a block colour behind us performing in front of the green screens (shown in the second image, with the pink bar that says 'Light Blue').

Our group has encountered several difficulties during the editing process, such as the soundtrack not syncing correctly and not having enough footage for when we got towards the end of the video (particularly cutaways). However, we have taken note of this and have already decided what to improve in our second draft.

Construction - Day Five

The images below are shots that I took when me and my group travelled to London, to film footage for our music video. We plan on using the shots filmed during our trip to London for our coursework through a variety of ways

We plan on using this image as the front cover for our CD digipak, as it features the three girls together, smiling and acting like a conventional pop group.

We also plan on using this image as a part of our CD digipak. This image might be in one of the side covers, as my group are planning on featuring the pop group in the front and back covers of the digipak.

The mid-shot of the three girls (the second of the two images above) could be used for the back cover of our CD digipak, to continue enforcing the concept of unity and happiness, which will promote positivity to the group's target audience of 'tween' girls.
